Caryn Rae Zmuda, age 64 years, a resident of rural Vienna, died Sunday, May 27, 2018, at 9:55 a.m. at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday morning, June 8, 2018, at 9 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vienna. Father Tom Barrett will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Hardin County Illinois.
A prayer service will be conducted Thursday afternoon, June 7, 2018, at 5 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. The visitation will immediately follow the prayer service and will continue until 8 p.m.

Caryn Rae Zmuda, age 64 years, a resident of rural Vienna, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018, at 9:55 a.m. at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky. Caryn was born December 14, 1953 in Gary, Indiana. She was the daughter of Henry and Nancy J. (Grabb) Chambers.
On August 23, 1979, Caryn was united in marriage to David A. Zmuda, Sr. at St. Joseph Catholic Church near Elizabethtown, Illinois.
In addition to her husband, Caryn is survived by her children, Rachel (Johnathan) BySura of Rabun Gap, Georgia and David A. (Amanda) Zmuda, Jr. of Cypress; seven grandchildren, Hayden, Ellie and Sadie BySura and Elizabeth, Nolan, Nathan, and Macie Zmuda; and her brothers and sisters, Nancy and Monie of Nebraska, Carol and Jane of Illinois, Alice of Nevada, Cathy of Florida, Kathy of Colorado, Truedy of California, Annette and Rusty of Colorado, Erik of Illinois, David of Florida and Gus of Maryland.
Caryn was preceded in death by her father, Henry Chambers; her mother, Nancy J. Truedson; and her stepfather, Russell Dale Truedson.
Caryn was a 1971 graduate of Batavia High School. She then attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry in 1975. Caryn was employed by the U.S. Forest Service and worked in the Elizabethtown ranger station as a forester for 3 years. She was then employed by the U.S. Postal Service at the Cypress Post Office and Anna Post Office prior to being appointed postmaster of the Buncombe Post Office, a position which she held until her retirement in 2013.
Caryn was a parishioner at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vienna. In her spare time, Caryn enjoyed knitting and, along with David, she enjoyed motorcycling.
Arrangements for the visitation and funeral mass are incomplete at this time.
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Hardin County Illinois.
