The Hardin County Cougars traveled three hours to Brownstown, IL (Buck Stop Archery) to compete in the Illinois S3DA Second Annual State Archery Tournament Saturday, June 16, 2018 where they successfully defended their State Champion title. Competitors endured five hours of triple-digit heat as they shot the most challenging course experienced all season. The kids were grouped by state rank (total of their five best regional scores) so they shot elbow to elbow with their closest competitor.

Approximately 130 students were there from all over Illinois. The Cougars had several members make the podium, and several more that were close.
“Many team members recorded their personal best scores Saturday,” said Head Coach Susan Armstrong. “That’s what pushed the team to the top for their second straight state title. The whole team is shooting well and scores are peaking at the right time with S3DA Nationals being held next weekend at Metropolis.”
