Leilana Lynn Warren, age 16 passed away August 11, 2017. She was born on February 2, 2001 in Brandon, Florida to Luther Brian Warren and Ashley Renee Vaughn. Lana’s love and gift was her ear and heart for music. She was an active member of the Ashdown High School Panthers Marching Band, where she played the flute. Lana taught herself to play the trombone, piano, flute and percussion. She shared her love to the world and her community through her music.
She accepted Christ and at the age of seven and was baptized at Haney Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a faithful, active member and youth leader. Lana was a leader in several ministries of the church. She was the Youth Sunday School secretary, leader in the Youth In Action 4 Christ ministry, Adult and Youth choir song leader, greeter and any tasks that needed her service in the church. Lana’s love and passion for music gave her affectionate spirit the power to teach herself to play numerous songs on piano for the adult and youth choirs.
Lana was very active in the community. She had a passion to serve others and gave her time freely to civic and non-profit organizations. She volunteered in the Ashdown Public Library summer reading programs assisting youth in their reading skills. She was an active member/volunteer of the Community Alternative Prevention Program (C.A.P.P. ) which services and enhances the developmental skills of youth in the Little River County area. Lana also assisted with feeding and serving the homeless in the Ashdown/Texarkana community. Lana planned to attend Henderson State University and become an E.R. Doctor AND Music Director.
Leilana Lynn Warren is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Luther Warren, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: parents, Luther Brian Warren and Ashley Renee Vaughn; paternal grandmother Betty Warren, Ashdown, AR; brother, Luther Alexander “Alex” Warren, Ashdown, AR; paternal great-grandmother, Arvella Campbell of Ashdown, AR; maternal grandfather, John Vaughn of Jacksonville, IL; maternal great-grandmother, Carlene Shockley of Rosiclare, IL; maternal grandmother Becky Hutton of Springfield, IL; special Auntie Angie Owings of Ashdown, AR; special Uncle Ron Barber of Jacksonville, IL; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday, August 17, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lyles Funeral, 3809 East Broad, Texarkana, AR 71854. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Haney Creek Baptist Church, 397 CR 23, Ashdown, AR 71822. Burial will be at Rhodes Cemetery, County Road 17 in Richmond, Arkansas.
