Gary Adrian was born December 3, 1938, to Mary Emma (Brown) and Adrian Horace Hobbs in Alton, IL. He passed away May 16, 2017 at the age of 78 at the Rosiclare Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Rosiclare, IL.
Gary grew up and went to high school in Arvada, CO, where he graduated from Arvada High School and attended the University of Colorado. He worked for IBM, Martin-Marietta and in the chemical and electroplating industry.
In 1968 he married Jean K. Soto of Denver, CO, where they lived and worked for several years. Both had careers in Chicago after that, where they lived until moving to Hardin County where they built the home they have lived in since 1980. Jean passed away in 2016.
Gary is survived by two brothers; Jerry, Kathy Hobbs and family of Arizona and Jim, Debbie Hobbs and family of Texas. Also, two sister-in-laws, Judy Nitta and Eileen Mayeda. He is preceded in death by both parents and his wife, Jean, of 48 years.
As per his wishes, Gary was cremated. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Bethany General Baptist Church, Route 34, Herod, IL. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Bro. Stan Pennell will officiate.
An interment service will be held after for the family at Cave Hill Cemetery, Cave In Rock, IL. Pastor Cherrie L. Wilkerson will officiate the service.
