Shirley Jane (Mayfield) Diaz, age 81, passed away in Roanoke, Virginia, June 21, 2017. She is the daughter of Geneva Watson and James Mayfield, born June 23, 1935 in Elizabethtown, Illinois. Jane loved to travel and lived in many different places including Illinois, Ohio, Louisiana, Georgia, Kansas, Texas, Germany, New Jersey and Virginia. After raising five children she received an LPN degree and pursued a nursing career in Junction City, Kansas. She never met a stranger, loved to sing, dance, and enjoyed life to the fullest!
Jane is survived by her children, Mike Pero, Lisa Pero Masoni, Lori Pero Malzi, Rick (Janelle) Pero, and Eddie (Brenda) Diaz; siblings, Betty Haney, Gary (Anne) Mayfield, Vikki (Karl) Zajak, Leo (Marie) Flynn; grandchildren, Nicole (Anthony) McClain, Billy (Summer) West, Jesse Pero, Aaron Pero, Jenny Pero, Katrina Diaz, Kyle Diaz, Kirstin Diaz, and Kolby Diaz; and great-grandchildren Alexis McClain, Ashlynn McClain, Will West, Sophia West, Caleb Pero, Connor Pero, and Collin Pero.
Jane, Mom, Memaw, Grandma, and GG-Mom will be missed and forever hold a spot in our hearts.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 29th, at the Elizabethtown Empire Cemetery, Elizabethtown, Illinois. Pastor Cherrie Wilkerson of Golconda First United Methodist Church will be officiating. All who loved her are welcome.
