James “Henry” Mangus, Jr. was born August 3, 1960 at Hardin County General Hospital and passed away on June 8, 2017 at the age of 56. He served as a fire fighter on the Reidland Farley Fire Department in Paducah and the Cave-In-Rock Fire & Rescue. James was a simple man who loved helping others, made sure to always put them first and cherished the little things in life.
He lived in Indianapolis for 25 years before moving to Cave-In-Rock where he enjoyed the country life and his job driving the big truck at Hastie’s.
He had a love for racing and hockey, but most importantly his wife and kids. You could always find the four of them together enjoying life and hanging with their pets. James never missed a moment to hang with his favorite “Lil’ Man” Lincoln and joke about the blue Cubbies.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Evelyn; son, Anthony “Homer”; daughter, Jessica “Sis”; mother, Velta Beavers; three brothers, Paul “Pappy” (Diana) Mangus, Johnny (Margie) Mangus, and Bob Smith; three sisters, Paulette Sanders, Donna Carter, and Velta Mae (Chuck) King; and many nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his father, James Mangus Sr.; sister, Verna Smith; aunt Nadine Lane; and cousin, Chuck Lane.
