Lou Ann Conkle, 76, was born on November 30, 1940 in Pope County, IL. Her parents were the late Charles F. Lievers and Clita (Cruson) Lievers. She was the oldest of three daughters. She left behind her loving sisters, Betty Davis of Elizabethtown and her husband Jim Davis (deceased) and Bonnie Joyner of Channahon, IL and her husband Charles (deceased).
Lou Ann attended Pope County School until she married Weldon Conkle, who passed away in June of 1958. Together they had four children: Mary Beth Reed and her late husband Dennis Mathews, and her other late husband Randall Reed; Charles Conkle; George Conkle; and Robert (Mickey) Conkle. She was blessed with six grandsons: David (Amy) Conkle and four children; Mitchell (Christy) Conkle and three sons; Cody Conkle; William (Bonnie) Mathews and seven children; Adam Mathews and one daughter; Josh (Tequla) Reed and two children.
She was also considered to be grandma to many others: Danille, Tamera, Misty, Ratchell, Johnny Paul, Jerry Lynn, Kylee, Harlie and many others. She also has many other family members too numerous to mention. Her best friend Ida will miss her as deeply as her children will.
Lou Ann was a hard worker. She not only raised and harvested a garden each year, but she also worked at many other jobs over the years; Rosiclare Glove Factory, Hardin County General Hospital (LPN), as a home health nurse and as a senior worker for the U.S. Forest Service.
After retiring, she loved spoiling her grandchildren, reading, sewing, baby-sitting and most importantly, serving God. She worshiped at Elizabethtown First General Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but don’t be sad for she has gone to her heavenly home to spend eternity with the Lord she loves so much! She was excited to leave this world for the next on June 9, 2017.
