Richard Brian Hinkle was born May 8, 1956 to Robert “Bob” and Joanna “Jo” Hinkle. He passed away Saturday June 3, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Slim and Gwen Helm, and Walter and Phyllis Hinkle.
He leaves behind a daughter, April (Tony) McBride, and grandson Dakota; brother, Neal (Barb) Hinkle of Colorado Springs, CO, sisters, Donna (Larry) Roberson of Elizabethtown, IL and Sandy Robertson of Cave In Rock, IL; aunt, Joyce (Dan) Runyon of Lincoln, VA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Richard came to Southern Illinois from Chicago in 2012 to be closer to his family. As his health declined, he moved to Rosiclare Rehab in 2015.
He attended church at Peters Creek which he enjoyed so much. He enjoyed life, loved meeting people and visiting with them. He spent 35 years as a cab driver in Chicago and had some of the most interesting stories to tell. He had a big heart. If he met you once, he considered you his friend and would always remember you.
Richard will be cremated and his ashes will be buried with his beloved grandparents, “Granny” and “Pa” Slim, at Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown. A graveside service is planned for Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
Hardin County Funeral Service assisted with final arrangements.
No words can express the feelings his family has for the kind words and calls. To the staff of Rosiclare Rehab, he loved you all very much…
