6-8-17 DEATH Bernie Herrmann

Bernard Joseph “Bernie” Herrmann died peacefully at his home in Paducah on Monday, June 5, 2017. He was born on December 3, 1930, in Golconda, Illinois to Carl and Esther Herrmann. A childhood polio victim who was not expected to regain the ability to walk, Bernie did in fact recover and went on to live a full and active life of 86 years. A member of the Rosiclare High School Class of 1949 and a graduate of the Bowling Green College of Business, Bernie owned and operated Riverview Chevrolet, Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge for 33 years before selling real estate in the Paducah area.
Bernie served on the board of trustees at Saint Joseph Catholic Church and on the Rosiclare City Council. Most recently he was a member of the McCracken County Senior Citizens Center Board.
Bernie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Colleen “Connie” Kirby Herrmann, and his sister, Virginia Drechsler of Jacksonville, Florida. Connie and Bernie were blessed with four children – Mike Herrmann (Gail) of Brentwood, TN, Patti Koch (Bob) and Debbie Soward (Charles) of Rosiclare, and Donna Steinkamp of Nashville, TN. Bernie was the proud grandfather of eleven and a great-grandfather of twelve.
He will be remembered for his steadfast integrity, unfailing sense of humor, and deep and abiding love of family and friends.
