Tammy Jo Brooks, 50, of Cuba, IL and formerly of Bloomington, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at her home after an extended battle with cancer. She was born November 10, 1966, in Elgin, the daughter of Jim and Betty Winters.
She was preceeded in death by her mother, Betty Winters, and her half sister, Melinda (Meme) Hasse Rowe.
Those left behind are her daughter, Savannah Jo; father, Jim Dale (Donna) Winters, Cave In Rock; her sister, Terry Lynn Gilmore, New Berlin; three brothers, Jason Winters, Ricky Wayland, and Mike Wayland, all of Cave In Rock; her best friend and “sister,” Jeanne Rowe; and “sisters of the heart,” Val Carson and Linda Taylor.
A service of remembrance to celebrate her life will be held at Potters Church in Cave In Rock from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017. A dinner will follow. Tammy was cremated and there will be a private graveside service at a later time. Memorials of support and college tuition assistance may be mailed to her daughter, Savannah Brooks, 12155 E.
