Rodney Wayne Davis of Chicago, IL, formerly of Karbers Ridge, IL, was born on November 26, 1945 to Wayne and Catherine Davis of Elizabethtown, IL. He passed away from multiple myeloma cancer after a valiant fight on December 31, 2016, at Swedish Covenant Hospital, Chicago, IL with his family at his bedside.
Rodney graduated from Cave In Rock High School in 1964. Rodney moved to Chicago and worked 45 years at Cochrane Compressor, as an air compressor mechanic. In his spare time he loved to fix cars and repair any type of machine that needed fixing. In the neighborhood he was the go-to guy if neighbors had problems with their machines.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Littrell, on August 21, 1965 and to this union two sons were born: Allen Wayne and Timothy Dale.
He was an avid sports fan and loved to call all the games. He really enjoyed watching his Chicago Cubs win the World Series this year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Catherine Davis; two brothers, William and Glenn (both in infancy); sister, Nina; in-laws, Emmitt and Bessie Littrell; and a special aunt, Delcie Hurford.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Shirley; sons, Allen and Tim (Aiylene); grandson, Alfred, all from Chicago; sisters, Arnita Holm of Des Plaines, Karen Lokcik of Chicago, and Debbie Davis of Chicago.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 5, at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home. Reverend Arthur Austin officiated. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
