Matthew Bryan Schmidgall, 31 of Chicago formerly of Bloomington passed away at 2:48 p.m. on Wednesday September 21, 2016 at his residence.
There will be a funeral service for Matt on Thursday September 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church of Bloomington. Pastor Rick Wagner will officiate. Visitation was held Wednesday at the church from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington is handling arrangements.
Matt was born on January 31, 1985 to Roger and Leah Bryan Schmidgall. He married Jenny Pfleeger on June 30, 2007 in Bloomington. She survives.
He is also survived by his parents of Normal, one brother Andrew Bryan (Helen Kennedy) Schmidgall of Chicago, his maternal grandmother, Alice Bryan of Colo, Iowa, his paternal grandmother, Lucy Schmidgall of Minier, and his cat, Aussie.
He attended the Evangelical Free Church in Bloomington. He graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Illinois State University in Normal in 2009. For the last six years Matt worked for RPM Advertising in Chicago as a Production Artist, then Jr. Art Director and for the last two years as Sr. Motion Graphics Director.
Matt was gifted and appreciated for his musical talents including the guitar, bass guitar and composing music as well as his painting and drawing works. He expressed his faith in Jesus as his Savior and Lord in a public baptism at E-Free Church on October 7, 2002. He enjoyed traveling to many locations in the US was well as mission work in Trinidad, Suriname, Honduras, Ethiopia, Kenya and Ireland.
