Robert J. “Bobby” Sisco, age 62 years, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.
Bobby was born April 23, 1954 to Hansel Oren and Virginia Faye (English) Sisco in Elizabethtown, Illinois. He married Melody May Collins on November 3, 1973 and later married Sheila Rebecca (Dixon) on August 7, 1987 at New Liberty Church near Eddyville, Illinois.
He was a Veteran of the United States Navy in which he received the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections for 15 years, Owner of Condy’s Convenience Store in Golconda for seven years, and drove a truck for many years. He professed his faith in Christ in April 1998 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Paducah, Kentucky and later moved his membership to the Social Brethren Church in Golconda, Illinois.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, social media and watching (when he wasn’t able to attend) NASCAR racing. He also enjoyed playing jokes on his nieces and nephews and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Rebecca, of rural Golconda, Bobby is survived by: four children – Michael Anthony Sisco, PhD of Daytona Beach, Florida; James Oren Sisco of Las Cruces, New Mexico; John David (Tammy Hafeman) Sisco of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; and Reverend Terra Leigh Sisco of Marlow, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandchildren – Kaitlyn, Benjamin, and Elijah; and a dear friend and the mother of his grandchildren – Cindy Baca, all of New Mexico.
Bobby is also survived by his brother – Stephen (Debbie) Sisco of Paducah, Kentucky; sisters – Karen (Bruce) Slimp of Golconda and Barbara J. Chittenden of Smithland, Kentucky; his father-in-law – Wilburn E. Dixon of rural Golconda; sisters-in-law – Kay Dixon (Mark) Kielhofner of Oran, Missouri, Teri Dixon Northern of Green Forrest, Arkansas, Cindy Dixon (Randy) Belford of Golconda, and Rose Dixon (Curtis) McIntyre of Jackson, Missouri; a brother-in-law – Steven Dixon of Golconda; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hansel Oren Sisco and Virginia Faye English Sisco Daniels, a sister – Janet Lynn Sisco Swinford and a brother-in-law – Gregg Chittenden.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning, June 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Waltersburg Cemetery in Pope County. Military graveside honors will be accorded.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
Serving as Pallbearers – Bruce Slimp, Jeff Lievers, Randy Belford, Michael Twitchell, William Clutts, Sr., and Curtis McIntyre. Honorary Pallbearer – Steven Dixon.
Memorials may be made to the Waltersburg Cemetery Fund or to Gideon’s International. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
