Charles C. Hobbs, age 79, of Eddyville, Illinois passed away June 7, 2016 at home.
He was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on October 19, 1936. He graduated from Cave-In-Rock High School. Charles worked for Ford Motor Co. for 35 years, and he also had a siding and roofing business, Hobbs Roofing. He and his wife own and operate Shawnee Restaurant & Lounge in Eddyville. Charles loved to visit and never met a stranger. He liked to keep in touch and made nightly calls to friends.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Paulette (Nichols) Hobbs; eight children, Johnny (Jackie) Hobbs, Mary Hobbs, Jodeen Jensen, Charles Hobbs, Kathi (Mike) Vaira, Paul Hobbs, Patti (Marcus) Hobbs-Mitchell, Kody Hobbs; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Amarie (Sheldon) Smith; step-father, Ed “Big Red” Smith; daughter, Frankie Sue Hobbs.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, IL. Graveside service will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, IL.
