Merta Marie Thornton Tadlock left this life April 24, 2016 at the Rosiclare Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Marie was born October 30, 1919 in Evansville, MS to the union of Marvin Thornton, Sr. and Mina (Carter) Thornton.
Marie was united in marriage to Thomas Tadlock, Sr. They were blessed with two sons: Thomas Tadlock, Jr. (wife Donna) and Michael Barry Tadlock (wife Brenda). Both sons preceded Marie in death. Her husband was also lost to her in World War II overseas.
Three siblings preceded her in death: Robbie Laird, Marvin Thornton, Jr., and Jack Thornton. Both of Marie’s parents are deceased. Her mother of Rosiclare was the beloved Mina (Thornton) Walker. Also preceding her in death was a long time friend, Arlin Gibbs.
Those left to mourn her passing are two daughters-in-law, Donna Tadlock, Rosiclare, and Brenda Tadlock Paris, Mt. Vernon, IL; two grandsons and families: Jason (Kathy) Tadlock of Walnut Hill, IL and Aaron (Tommy) Tadlock of Larkspur, Colorado; plus many nieces and nephews too numerous to name.
Visitation and services were held on Wednesday, April 27, 11:00 a.m./1:00 p.m. with interment in Peters Creek Cemetery.
