Richard Robert Flanery, Jr. “Dick”, 83, of Wheelersburg, Virginia died Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was born September 23, 1932 in Norfolk, Nebraska to the late Richard Robert Flanery, Sr. and Beulah Throgmorton Flanery. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1957; he was a Marine Corp veteran of the Korean Conflict; he retired in October 1996 from Aristech Chemical Corporation as Manager Administration & Production Planning; a member of Wheelersburg United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Joan Cochran Flanery whom he married June 12, 1954 in Rosiclare, Illinois; two daughters, Cheryl (Dave) Bennett and Mary (Mark) Hoover; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, October 12, 2015 at Wheelersburg United Methodist Church where Pastor Perry Prosch officiated with interment following in Memorial Burial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of the Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg.
