Berlie W. Winders, 92, of Catlin, IL passed away at 11:21 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Provena Medical Center in Danville, IL. He married Augusta Gibbs on October 17, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, MO. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Sharon Kay (Gerry) Reed of Catlin; two grandchildren, Greg (Penny) Reed of Chenoa, IL and Cathy Reed Collins of College Park, MD; and three great-grandsons, Seth Reed, Nathan Reed, and Reed Collins. Berlie was the last of the Winders family of 13 children. He and Augusta lived in Hardin County until 1992. He worked 33 years at Ozark-Mahoning Mining Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a strong, gentle, kind, hard working man and a good husband. He loved his family. He loved the country life, his cattle, and cutting wood. He was ready to meet his Lord. Funeral service was Saturday, August 29 in Catlin with Pastor Curtis Flake. A graveside service was held Monday, August 31 at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Arthur Austin, Jr. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
