On March 31, 2015, Hardin County Cougar Chaos had an Alumni game where the 2014-2015 Cougar Chaos competed against former Hardin County Cougars. Playing for Cougar Chaos were: BJ Austin, Trace Barnard, Logan Conn, Hunter Cullum, Tanner Dutton, Gage Hawes, Darrien Robinson, John Rose, Austin Seavers, Cameron Shaw and Tyler Winters. Cougar Chaos was coached by Rodney Lane. Playing for the Alumni team were: Brian Banks, Class of 1997; Britt Belford, Class of 2004; Jerod Belford, Class of 1999; Jeff Byers, Class of 1994; Aaron Carr, Class of 1999; Tony Cinkovich, Class of 1981; Paul Conn, Class of 1986; Travis Cowsert, Class of 2009; Tyler Cowsert, Class of 2006; Ira Cruson, Class of 2002; Clay Cullum, Class of 1976; Lee Fricker, Class of 1999; Brian Joyner, Class of 1988; Brian Simmons, Class of 2001; Boo Smith, Class of 1987; Justin Smith, Class of 1999; Jason Vaughn, Class of 1996; Gary Don Vinyard, Class of 2003; Shawn Wheeler, Class of 1989 and James Winters, Class of 2000. The Alumni Team was coached by Jeremy Wallace. Coach Wallace was assisted by Mike Belford. The Alumni participated in a three point shoot out and Brian Simmons sank the most baskets from behind the three point line. Before the game began, Athletic Director Sharon Austin took the liberty in setting up an “Emergency Station” behind the Alumni bench in case one of the “old timers” on the Alumni team couldn’t handle the Cougar Chaos. Chaos actually got more than they bargained for! The Alumni showed the youngsters a thing or two, but after six quarters, Chaos pulled out the win with a score of 97-89. The game length was six quarters instead of four because everyone was having too much fun to end the game. The coaches and players agreed and they continued the game for two more quarters! This year the high school boys basketball team which was dubbed Cougar Chaos at the beginning of the year by Coach Lane has enjoyed great success. At the beginning of the year a Facebook page was created for fans to follow as Chaos caused havoc on the court throughout the season. Chaos began the year as the Crab Orchard Turkey Tournament Champs and ended the year as Regional Champs. Two events were added during the 2014-2015 season, Meet the Athletes, which included a “Miss”ter Cougar pageant and an Alumni game, both of which are hoped to be made annual events. For more information about Cougar Chaos, like “Hardin County Cougar Chaos” on Facebook. There were a lot of laughs and comical moments, not only from the fans, but the players during the game. Boo Smith deciding that a bear hug may be a better way to steal the ball from Tanner Dutton.
